Style converter - GW-8....need help pls

28 Oct 2008, 06:00
Hi guys,

recently got a gw-8 and very happy with it.

But I need some help with the style converter.

So I want to convert an existing midi file
Edit midi file ensure channel 4 or 6 is not used
I convert to SMF0.
Rename it ending in _m
open it in the style converter
Now this is where I get lost
What measure do I put in each division ?
How is this related to the midi file ?
Appreciate anyones help
Thanks everyone

Why does everything make sense after your post your query.

Wasnt that difficult after all

the style is simply a succession of midi samples representing an intro, main, fill and ending

to create new style
import midi samples to prj to relevant channels
exclude channels 4 & 6
edit midi file as smf1
take note of divisions
enter all msb,lsb & pc
save as midi smf0
rename to xxxxx_m
open xxxxx_m into style converter
enter division measures
convert
load style file to roland gw-8
this is very rough explaination
this applies to roland style converter ver 3

Ok I sort of got the hang of this converter now although I am getting errors.

I have made up my style of midi intros, mains, fills and endings, not an existing midi file.
The error the converter gives is :

LSB does not exist or is in wrong place or cannot be found
I am using cubase as my sequencer software

Any help would be greatly appreciated
