New Dog, Kool Tricks...
26 Mar 2004, 05:17The rolandus website www.rolandus.com is now providing some pretty neat tips for sampling, usb, etc. on the new Fantom-X. (check out Sampling Tips vol 2.) Info skims over different sampling techniques and applications. Cool info for guitarists who always had questions about the best ways to use their instrument with the fantom!
With roland seemingly providing better support on their website for the fantom now that it has gone "X-treme", it seems it would make more sense to produce a video owners manual on dvd with this same info in detailed form with tips, tricks and real world user applications that would help newbies and seasoned users alike. This dvd should IMO have also been included with the purchase of the new Fantom-X. It would be rolands way of saying "we know we should have done things differently with the first two Fantoms(non sampling and "S"-essentialy prototypes-not the real finished product that the "X" actually is) we made and here's our way of saying thanks for sticking with us."
I have the original Fantom-S dvd owner's manual and it wasnt as comprehensive as I would have liked considering the power of the Fantom S and now X keyboard.
Speaking of video manuals, now that the Fantom-X is more powerful and the above suggestion was just wishful thinking on my part, I hope the next iteration (if there is one) of the dvd owner's manual for the "X" comes in specialty chapters or editions similiar to the Motif which has several different videos dedicated and focused on specific aspects and functions of that keyboard. Some might consider this costly but I think its worth it if the videos give better examples of how to get the most out of your workstation in many different applications.
Well, now for me, the wait continues...X6's and 7's are coming in but still waiting for my X8. Hope to have it soon;-)!
