Do you find yourself wanting more with G

Do you find yourself wanting more with G

I just want to say that i have played the fantom G 3 times and i walk away wanting more in the sound department.I love the interphase and how the seqencer is laid out i just walk away wanting more.the G tells me to expand the sound set a little more.ive seen guys take their X and add all kinds of samples in it as well as SRX cards to get to sound right. When i play the G,iwanted to hear sounds that jump out at me to inspire me and i didnt hear anything particular.I dont know if anyone else feel as i do but if you do lets hear your thoughts. Now i played the RD700Gx and that is hot!! the pianos, rhodes etc.. has a big sound and i love it

Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but doesn't the RD700GX share the same samples with the G?

The way is see it..
the G concept is a good one, what currently lets it down is the incomplete OS and the lack of multisample and RPS keys.

if we get these back sooner than later it will be the bees knees.

Im hoping but im not sitting back waiting we need to keep emailing them.

i think almost every roland keyboard has vey similar sounds(almost no new/different sounds). Its like theyre really just selling the OS improvements.(sequencing with a mouse, way more ram than a fantom, much bigger lcd screen, volume faders..ect

When I am with the G, I definitely want more... More of it. And yet a bit more. More, please, more! YES!!!

I agree with Mr. Claudio.

Wish they would focus more on the actual patches. After all, the Fantom-G has a brand new sound engine. Well then, let's see what this thing can do!

A different sound engine? I never really got that- I know they have a new chip that is better quality/faster. But isn't the architecture (beyond added MFX) the exact same as the X. The G is more of a refined X. I would think a new sound engine would be worthy of a completely new name instead of Fantom.

I think Roland will do a Korg M3 (mega Patches) update to the G.. LIek the G, the M3 was rushed to market with a "lame" soundset. YET, everyone could here that the M3 was vastly superior to all other Korgs.

We will se such an "free" download-able update. I mean, really, let's be honest,

-there are only 2 expansion slots..So, ther not room for the usually Roland "pay for paly expansion cards$$

I wish (SOund wise) that the ad "Eric Persings" Spectrasonics Stylus/RMX sound set and Atomosphere...Being that the G already has Trilogy bass library inside of it..

I like the way it sounds,it just need more variety of sounds to cover different styles.I like the idea jjdpro has, do like korg did with the m3, update those drums, more dance,r&b,hip hop sounds.to many sounds sound the same. And as some else stated, you only get 2 ARX slots and no telling what roland will put out next.People are going to up grade this synth sound wise because it lacks ceertain things and roland did this purposely to sell ARX cards. When yamaha decided to get rid of those xpansion cards, they made sure the XS sounded as good as those cards they got rid of and it does.Everything to me in that board covers alot of styles and its not cheesy sounding either.i like the sampling in the fantom x and G better because to me its easier. If i had the money i would get a G6 and the XS rack, those two would cover it for me.

One question:

Has Korg just updated patch programming or was it possible to overwrite waveforms as well?

And does anyone know the same about the G? Is it technically possible to replace trashy wavefoms (more than enough left on the G) by better ones?

The Korg sound update were a couple of banks full of new programs, no new wave forms.

The M3 has empty banks out of the box to be filled with radias programs if you install one. Or if you don't you can put your own in there....or Korgs new batch.

Wave rom updates? ROM isn't rewritable, but I think it would be possible if the wave rom was flashable. But it would be biiiiiiiiig updates. Unlikely i think.

There's probably too much Flash ROM required for wav material, compared to patch information.

My Access Virus allwos rewriting it's (Flash-) ROM patch information.
And the Nord Wave even allows something similar for Wave material as well.
It would be cool if this would become standard for sound ROM as well. It would last half an eternity to burn the information, but with great results and a *real* option to improve a soundset.

I can do better patches myself. No need for Korg or Roland to do that, though nice ideas are always welcome from anyone...
