MIDI controller

I purchased a very cheap Yamaha keyboard (the $100 kind,) for use as a basic controller. It works, but I see no way to tell it to send it's MIDI events to anything but channel 1. Which means I can only play part 1 notes.

Someone mentioned that you might be able to redirect MIDI events to the currently selected part, but I saw no such setting.

Using the keyboard switch setting seems to work, thanks.

Switching from one "mode" to another can be slightly painful. If you have a keyboard hooked up via MIDI, and a computer hooked up via USB, you have to ensure your switches are set right.

Importing patches
* USB mode: Storage
* Need to select the storage mode and hit enter
* Need to disconnect the Roland from the PC before doing anything else once data is transferred
Using a MIDI controller
* USB mode: Storage (NOT MIDI)
* Keyboard Switch (Works with it off, but with it on, you can play the selected part; this was my experience, it might be difference if your controller can transmit on other than channel 1)
Using the software editor
* Manual says keyboard switch should be off; I was able to work with it on
* USB mode: MIDI
* When editing a sample, you go into PC mode and the MC-808 controls become inactive; when you exit out of the sample editor (you can keep the main editor up,) you regain control of your MC-808

Hi,

if your keyboard has usb try routing the out of your keyboard to the in of the mc-808 in the software.

So you can leave usb mode = storage.

Ciao, Dirk.
