Recording audio with drum beat

Recording audio with drum beat

Okay, possibly a dumb question, then again maybe not?

How does one record an external instrument whilst playing back a programmed drum track. To put it another way - do I always have to record my bass/guitar to the click track before adding the other parts?

When I attempted to record my guitar along with the MIDI sequence, I end up recording the whole lot to a single track - most frustrating! I cannot figure out how to seperate/or route the internal audio (coming from the inbuilt sounds) differently when recording.

Any ideas?

C.LYDE,

Do you have a Fantom X with the Audio Track expansion installed? I have an X6 and record bass and guitar no problem to my Songs. Let us know what model you have and the steps you are taking, then I think you'll get an answer fairly quick.

Bassman,

I'm now recording bass and guitar riffs like a pro - this board rocks!!!

..and to think I used get excited about the W30..!?!
