Trying to get Key touch like a REAL piano

Trying to get Key touch like a REAL piano

Hey, I've done some comparisons to a real piano and the fantom x8 key touch. The medium key touch is way to light when compared to a real piano. You shouldn't be able to get a piano to sound that loud without raising your arms up and slamming them on the keys, but with the fantom you can get the same velocity with your hands right above the keys and striking medium hard. I tried the Heavy touch setting and it's much closer to a real piano, though just a tad to heavy when trying to trigger the loudest tone. I'm used to playing a real piano and when I set the fantom to Heavy and can play licks and runs faster than on medium (where I have to exert energy in my hand muscles to play lighter than a real piano and get it to sound the same velocity). Anyways is there a way I can fine tune the touch between heavy or medium or edit a piano patch and do something like make the 4th tone easier to trigger? Can you edit the velocity curve? Thanks

Ron

Can anyone help me with this? I'm trying to get the loud tones in a piano patch easier to play under heavy key touch...

I am not sure you can reconfigure key touch settings LIGHT, MEDIUM and HEAVY, but you should be able to edit a Piano patch and change how the individual tones making up the patch responds to these different touch settings. There appear to be two options. In the patch "general" settings tab you can adjust the velocity sensity offset (see owners manual p62). The advantage of using this setting is it preserves the relative differences between the velocity sensitivity values for the individual tones that make up that patch. Altenatively, for greater flexibility under the "TMT" settings tab you can change the way each tone sounds in response to notes played at different strengths, e.g. velocity range lower and velocity range upper, p65-66. Probably best to select a piano patch you like, experiment by changing the above settings, and save as a new user patch.
