Saving Samples to both Sample & Patch?

Saving Samples to both Sample & Patch?

When I save a sample and save it to my card when I go to Performance Mode there is an asterisk (*) by my sample and says *USER: 001 instead of CARD ###:

Will this effect my music if it stays in the USER catergory when I load songs and samples in and out? Should I save it as a patch as well since saving it as a patch turns it into CARD: ###: ?

By default, when you assign a sample to keyboard, it will be assigned as a temporary patch in USER:001 location. But if you save a song, it doesn't matter which bank your patch is assigned to, plus it's not even a saved patch, it's a temporary patch in your song. When you save the song, the only thing that matters is that the sample you used stays on it's place and is loaded in RAM when you load the song back next time.

thanks Artemio. i was mad because i was saving each sample as a patch and i had a 512 MB card with only 256 patches, meaning if i would have continued on the path that i was going, i would've waste half of the memory because it would be unused.

thanks again.

No, what's great about Fantoms is you do not have to worry about the patches that are in your song, they are saved within the song. That is why 256 user + 256 card patches is not that of a limit, you have 16 patches per song, and in 256 songs per card this means 4096 patches ;-)
