Hi guys, I would like to read of you what's are your piano preferences for studio and stage. After 2 weeks with my new Fantom-07 baby, I'm still lost about what are the best options. Thank you in advance.

THere is no best that suits everyone. Personally i would say none of them are useable for me, so i don’t bother with Pianos in my Fantom 06.
Others find them fine.
Just use your ears, remember they can all be tweaked, and don’t forget abut EQ. This last bit can make or break a sound.

For the studio, I would recommend VSTs. There are many good products on the market, and you get can some of them for around 50 USD when they are on sale.

For the stage, I think it depends on the song and the arrangement. For example, a tone with a lot of detail works well when only piano is playing. However, when there are vocals and other instruments, you usually need a brighter tone with less detail.

Do you have an example? What song are you playing on stage, on what other instruments are playing at the same time?

I usually play with two tribute bands: one for Beatles, and other for Rolling Stones.
And sometimes I play alone, or with a singer, with a mp3 musical acompaniment prepared by me.
So, to avoid suffer on gig I carry my Macbook to play Triton Extreme Piano.
By the way, XP30, thanks in advance for ask me.

For Beatles, I am thinking of Let It Be. It has an unusual mellow piano tone. I would give EXSN03:0015:Mazurka 1849 a try. For live performances, you need to EQ it for the singer, because of the amount of mid frequencies.

For Rolling Stones, I am thinking of She's A Rainbow. It starts with a tack piano (or a similarly processed piano). I am not sure if there is such a tone in the Fantom. You could create something by layering and detuning two (simple) piano tones, and adding a hammer noise.

Do you have a specific song in mind with acoustic piano where you can not find a tone on the Fantom that works for you?

I am not terribly familiar with Rolling Stones and Beatles recordings. I just listened to Loving Cup by the Rolling Stones (the first song in your list), and I think many pianos work for that. For example, try EXSN03:0006:Classic Warm 3, and roll off the lows with the zone EQ.

My point is: In live performances, the exact piano sound is not that important, in particular if the piano is not playing alone. It is often more important to make the piano work in the mix. There are exceptions. For example, if I think of Someone Like You from Adele, then the piano is very prominent through the whole song, and it has this woody tone. And I think something would be missing without a rich piano sound.

Coudn't agree more. In live performances, the challenge is to find a good one that works with the band. Brighter piano is a good way.
The case of "Someone like you" rich wood piano sounds works better. Great sogestion, EXSN03:0006:Classic Warm 3 sounds good here.
